Eye Make-Up for African American Women

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

Spring /Summer Trends are out!  Summer officially begins June 20th so it’s time to find out what’s hot and what’s not when it comes to the summer fashion and beauty trends.   The Mary Kay® Spring/Summer Trend Report gives women everything we need in order to make sure our fashion and makeup looks are current.

Summer Make-Up Trends

  1. Purple was popular for eyeshadow at the NAACP Awards and it’s predicted to be on-trend this summer. Purple lips, eyes, and checks were a hit with on the red carpet with celebs like Lizzo and Angela Bassett rocking some purple shades.
  2. You might be watching make-up tutorials where the influencer puts on 10+ products just as a base, however, the fresh face or minimal look is coming back. Natural face, or at least the appearance of it, is back, and I’m so happy to hear that.
  3. Thick eyebrows for the win. Say good-bye to think browns, hello to the thicker the better.  Fill those babies in if you’re in the transition stage of growing your eyebrows back in. I’ve been trying to grow in my eyebrows back for years, not much luck on my end. (Leave a comment if you have a tip!) Thank goodness for these great eyebrow pencils and powders on the market to help fill in those gaps.

THREE EASY SUMMER FASHION TRENDS

  1. Polka Dots: Granted, most of us are not wearing high-end brands like Gucci and Balenciaga, both who featured polka dots in their spring fashion shows, however, that doesn’t mean we can’t take a few notes from this trend? In fact, I found the cutest polka dot dress for just under $25. Perfect for a summer date night or brunch with the girls.
  2. Floral Patterns: I love wearing floral patterns. The dress above I found on the sale rack at Nordstrom Rack for about $20.  Floral patterns are pretty forgiving in my opinion. Also, they are perfect for long travel days when you are likely to spill a little something on your outfit (or is that just me?). My favorite thing about wearing florals? They are so feminine and bright.
  3. African Prints: African prints are still HOT, HOT, HOT and will be this summer. Go for bright colors, lots of patterns, and don’t be afraid to mix and match. Pair with a denim shirt, a wide belt, a solid tank, or pair your African skirt with a crop top for a bit of sexier look. Rock your curves!
