Our outdoor Christmas lights are up, I’ve already made a big dent in buying Christmas gifts, and I have some great ideas on activities we’ll do with the kids over the Christmas holiday. What’s left? The Christmas tree. Today we’re going to buy our Christmas tree and finish decorating our home for our favorite time of the year.
The night we decorate our tree is when the Christmas season officially starts for us. It really gets us into the holiday spirit. Together we pick the best tree – it must be fat, full, and tall. In other words, big! If it were up to me, it would be 10-12 feet but my husband is always the voice of reason. When we get home, we play our favorite Christmas movie and get busy with decorating. Everyone plays a part. My oldest son builds our Christmas village, my daughter and I get the tree started, and my youngest son places our collection of snow men near the front door then finishes up with the tree. We leave the top of the tree for my husband who sometimes has to get a ladder. Finally, we place the angel on top and then we sit back and take it all in.
When decorating for the holiday season, it’s easy to forget the essentials. I’m not referring to the Christmas ornaments or the angel that will go on top of the tree. I’m referring to enjoying sweet treats and home holiday fragrances during and after Christmas decorating. Why not bake, then eat, then eat again some Christmas cookies while we do the tree? And don’t forget scented candles! They’re great for to adding a special touch to your holiday decorating. This year you can find four limited edition scents in the Glade® Winter Collection: Sparkling Spruce™, Apple Cinnamon Cheer™, Pure Vanilla Joy, or Frosted Berry Kiss.
And to store your leftover Christmas cookies, you can use the Ziploc® Holiday Collection. The collection features limited editions bags and containers perfect for storing your favorite homemade treats.
What are your traditions when decorating your Christmas tree?
