Looking for the best breakfast restaurants in Jacksonville? You’ll want to visit these four top spots. Why breakfast? Well, I love breakfast, it’s the most important meal of the day, and weekend! We live for breakfast or brunch on a lazy Saturday morning. Years ago when we were a young family and the kids woke up at 6 am, you would usually find us at Village Inn in Atlantic Beach sometime around 8:30 am. It was breakfast for us but “brunch” for the kids.
After Village Inn closed we had to venture out. Leaving our comfort zone and exploring new breakfast restaurants was something I enjoyed. I am a major foodie and I love to eat local. And now that the kids are older, we can and have explored many different restaurants. From casual to more upscale, I’ve put together a list of the Four Best Locally Owned Breakfast Restaurants in Jacksonville. Be sure to share your favorites in the comments below!
Top Four Locally Owned Breakfast Restaurants in Jacksonville
Metro Dinner– There are four locations in Jacksonville. Known for “Where the Locals Eat!” Since 1938, this family friendly restaurants serves the best and biggest breakfast dishes. The lattes and coffee are also delicious. It was even featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. My favorite dish there is the chicken and waffles. Good doesn’t even begin to describe it so watch the video and you’ll see why this place lands on this list.
Ellen’s Kitchen – Located in Jacksonville, Beach, Ellen’s is a small restaurant hidden in a shopping plaza close to the beach. My favorite dish is the Crab Cake Benedict. The price is right and there are many different classic breakfast dishes to choose from. If you arrive after 11, you may have a little bit of wait.
Derby on the Park – One of Five Points historic restaurants, Derby on the Park serves delicious food. The brunch menu has southern classics like Biscuits & Gravy, Bourbon Ham & Eggs, and Fried Green Tomatoes. When the restaurant underwent major renovations in 2012, the menu and ownership changed. You’ll love the changes and the food.
Secret Garden Cafe – We loved this place even before it was featured on Food Network. The French Toast is one of my favorites but my son orders the ham and cheese croissant and adds an egg. Besides the food, we love that breakfast is served all day everyday.
