How do you get your child to book modeling jobs with your favorite brands like Justice, Gap, and other stores? For moms that ask me about getting their kids booked for jobs with Justice, Gap, Disney, etc., there are two options. Sign with a modeling agency that will get casting calls for your favorite brands. The other way is to sign-up for Kid’s casting calls where you’ll get notifications on modeling opportunities for kids.
Most tween girls are a huge fan of Justice clothes. Why not? The fashions are adorable and the sales are even better! When my daughter started modeling, she wasn’t worried about modeling for the brands she loved. She just enjoyed doing it, especially our Disney jobs. Now that she’s a tween and more fashion conscious, she was asking about getting booked for Justice modeling jobs. So I did a little research.
Their corporate offices are in Columbus, Ohio. Most likely so is their marketing department. This may mean the models are getting booked by agencies in the Ohio area. But it all depends.
How to Get Booked for Modeling Jobs With Your Favorite Brands
- Good photos. You’ll need to have good photos of your child ready. Outdoor photos are great for natural light. Aim for photos during the golden hour, one hour before sunset. Avoid harsh sunlight and shadows. Take photos of a full body, a close of up headshot, and a 3/4 shot. No need for an expensive camera either and no need to hire a photographer. You can rent a camera lens and quickly upgrade your camera for a small cost using Borrow Lens.
- Finding the agency. Justice and other stores have a marketing department that plans out all the marketing campaigns with an advertising agency that has been hired to do the work. Together they come up with the advertising and marketing campaigns. The advertising agency then hires a talent agency to find models. This is who you need to try and locate. - Get notified of casting calls. Most of the time, many different modeling agencies receive the notice for a casting call. You can also sign-up to receive emails about casting calls through companies like KidsCasting.com. When we go to castings, there are usually a couple of hundred people there with different agencies and all casting for different roles in the shoot. For example, there can be 50 people casting for the role of “Mom” in the ad or commercial. Sometimes even more. Or for castings by invitation may be less.
- Avoid casting scams. Be careful of any model talent search that promises you that your child will land a deal for representation and earn a lot of money once YOU pay a lot of money. Stick to finding a good modeling agency with a solid reputation.
- Baby/Kids Casting Contests. Although you may see a casting call for cutest Gap Baby etc. these are usually contests (and part of a great marketing campaign). If your child wins the contest, great! The experience and photos (assuming you are permitted to use them later) will help propel any new model’s career. It will also help you and your family understand the entire process better. Check out this 2020 casting contest and enter your child’s photo for a chance to win.
Here’s an example: When we booked a job with Bahamas Tourism the agency that booked us was headquartered in Orlando. There were several hundred people at the casting. Some of the models had driven in from as far as Atlanta and Miami. The job was a week-long shoot and the campaign required many different “characters” and “themes.” Beach day, nightclub, hotel, fine dining with young couples, girlfriends, families, families with grandparents, families with grandma, etc. We booked the job, flew to the Bahamas to do the shoot and had a blast!
When my daughter booked the job with Children’s Place, it was the same thing. We did the casting in Orlando but had to go to Tampa for the shoot. The models were from everywhere. It was a two-day shoot and there were children of all ages. For the younger babies, multiple kids were booked just in case.
