1.  The Ordinary

A southern seafood hall with an abundance of oysters at the oyster hall is what you will find here. The fennel soup salad is different and delicious. Oysters are cooked to perfection and you would simply die for their tasty Oyster Sliders that they are known for. I loved their drink and cocktail menu too featuring craft cocktails galore.  Highlight, the bar included Haiti’s finest rum, Rum Barbancourt, Special Preserve.  I loved their version of the Moscow Mule. This was our first stop of two for the night so we didn’t over do it with our orders, but it wasn’t easy not ordering everything on the menu.

2. Husk Restaurant

Located in downtown Charleston, Husk has received global recognition for its food.  It was ranked the “Best New Restaurant for 2011″ in Southern Living and Bon Appetit magazines. Husk focuses on turning high quality home grown ingredients into some of the best dishes you’ll ever taste. Another interesting fact is the menu changes daily so if you don’t know what you are in the mood for, let Husk decide for you. Their speciality is lowcountry.  We ordered cornbread, greens, shortribs, and more.

3. Halls Chophouse

Halls Chophouse is a family owned steakhouse restaurant that offers top quality American cuisines with some of the best steaks and hamburgers you’ll find in Charleston. I really only eat red meat between two buns so I didn’t try the steak. Everyone that did, raved, and raved. I ordered a special of Scallops with a side of Hall’s famous Lobster Mac ‘n Cheese. For dessert, order the Whiskey Bread Pudding. It made me want to holler all the way back to Jacksonville. In addition to their steaks, try their delicious Moscow Mules to awaken your taste buds. During our dinner, one of the owners stopped by our table to welcome us after commenting on how much fun we were having.  Few minutes after he left, a round of drinks, “on the house” made its way to our table.  How’s that for a special touch?

4. Hominy Grill

Sitting among some of the most historic places in Charleston, this restaurant serves the neighborhood with breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. You can get your southern fix anytime of the day to enjoy their mouthwatering cocktails, warm fresh fluffy biscuits and best tasting grits in town. We went for Brunch on our second day. I split the Shrimp and Grits with the Salmon Potato Cakes with roasted tomato sauce & poached eggs– delicious. Did I mention the biscuits were mouthwater? Get those no matter what. I had to buy a Hominy Grill mug with the biscuit recipe for future reference. I think I’ll try to make those this weekend.

5. 39 Rue de Jean

Much like their name suggests, this is a French café and bar that gives you the best classic brassiere cuisine in Charleston, SC. The menu is filled with various French dishes made to perfection.  The Bacon Blue Cheese Mussels are a full on, out of body experience! They also offer weekly lunch specials that allow you to try a cuisine without breaking your budget.
