DIY Design Inspiration For the Holidays

Home / Lifestyle / DIY Design Inspiration For the Holidays

I love unique, indie-style homes, especially around the holidays.* Most people don’t know this but I am a crafter at heart. If I had the time (famous last words) I would totally be making everything from my own window treatments to these super cute homemade treat bags for Halloween. I once made a beautiful duvet with pillows for our guest room but it took me about two years to finish it. (Technically, it was mostly finished if you don’t count sewing the final seam on the duvet.)

But anyhoo, I was really excited to learn that Minted.com has a new feature on their site,  Julep, a blog featuring all the creative goodness that DYI & design has to offer. And right in time for the holidays, Julep features a chock full o’ seasonal DIY inspiration for those of us that want to beautify our homes for the holidays without busting the holiday budget.

And my favorite thing of all, many of the posts feature easy to implement ideas. One of my favorites, these great styling tips to set your holiday table farmhouse style.

Farmhouse How to Decorate Your Thanksgiving Table Farmhouse Style

How To Set Your Holiday Table Farmhouse Style

To set your holiday table farmhouse style, all you need is a brown paper table runner, autumn inspired stamps or stencils, Rosemary or branches from your favorite holiday shrub or plant, and pumpkins, acorns, votive candles.

-Use glitter spray paint to decorate small pumpkins to place around your table. Use colors like red and gold for nice pops of color

-Decorate your table runner using your stencils or stamps and crafting paint. Don’t worry about following a pattern.

-Use the rosemary to tie your eating utensils and place branches or leaves from your favorite fall plant or shrub to decorate your table and   garnish  your dishes.

-Don’t forget B & D, bread to the left, drinks to the right! And if you decide to go with a table cloth rather than a runner, proper tablecloth length is a 6 inch drop from the table.

Boom, now you’re ready!
