Happy Easter to all of you! In our home, we celebrate Easter by remembering that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for our sins. After the third day He rose again. Teach the real meaning of Easter even to young children by serving up this delicious treat known as Marshmallow Resurrection Rolls. A cinnamon and sugar treat so delicious, you won’t believe how easy it is to make. The rolls signifies Jesus being laid to rest in the tomb, then rising again.
This idea was inspired by my children’s school. Every kindergarten class learns the story of Easter first with Jesus, then last with the Easter bunny who leaves behind the eggs to remind us about Christ rising from the tomb (a hard casket from which new life emerged). The lesson wraps up with the children eating the Marshmallow Resurrection Rolls.
You use your favorite crescent rolls, marshmallows coated in melted butter, then dipped in sugar and cinnamon. You roll up the marshmallow into its “tomb.” Bake. When you take them out of the oven, the tomb is empty! The children swear this is magic and as good as it tastes, your tastebuds will agree! Enjoy this on Easter morning or any time of the year!
Recipe for Marshmallow Resurrection Rolls
- Large marshmallows
- Container of your favorite crescent rolls
- Melted butter
- 1/2 cup white sugar combined with 1/2 cup cinnamon
Directions
- Melt butter and unroll crescent rolls.
- Dip marshmallow into butter then roll into cinnamon sugar mix.
- Roll the marshmallow into the crescent roll. Pinch edges tight so that when the marshmallow melts, it doesn’t seep out (like in my picture above.) The marshmallow signifies the body of Christ going into the tomb after he died on the cross.
- Bake the rolls according to the package directions on a flat cookie sheet. I put my rolls in a bundt pan, just for fun. (Actually, I never get to use so I figured, hey, why not now?)
