On July 21, Girls Trip, one of the best movies for women since Waiting to Exhale, will be released. Before you plan anything else, grab your Flossy Posse, your fly girl squad, mom, aunties, BFFS, sisters and your sister friends and buy your tickets to see this film. Girls Trip will bring you back, maybe even way back, to the best GNO you and your crew had. Was it college? Spring break? A bachelorette? If you’re lucky, it will be all the above.
Girls Trip, produced by Will Packer, is the new comedy from director and producer Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man franchise, Barbershop: The Next Cut). Set in New Orleans, The film stars four lifelong friends and alumni from Florida A&M University—Regina Hall, Tiffany Haddish, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Queen Latifah. The girls, who called themselves the Flossy Posse, travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival. Their first trip in years, their sisterhood is rekindled and wild sides are rediscovered when they finally get their chance to reunite.
I was lucky enough to screen the movie a few weeks ago and definitely will be seeing it again today with my squad tonight. Enjoy!
