From the beach to the golf course and back seaside for the local cuisine–there is something for everyone in the Mississippi Gulf Coast. It’s what many call “the new South” -an American gem of authentic Southern charm with upscale attractions AND a laid-back coastal vibe.

I’m a Midwesterner who has a love affair with the South. Love everything about it. Some might say that I have romantic notions of Southern hospitality. You know, folks with drawls who take the time to say hello or hold the door, sweet balmy heat, Southern Belles, fresh seafood and old sprawling mansions…   Well, with the exception of ladies in huge ball gowns named Scarlett- I have experienced all of these things while attending college in northern Florida and traveling throughout that state and the South. And the Mississippi Gulf Coast  located in the Gulf of Mexico is no exception.  It’s all of the above and more.

Beaches, Fishing and Family Fun

If a beach vacation is what you are looking for- there’s 26 miles of white sandy beach awaiting you on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. And whether you prefer freshwater, saltwater, fly fishing or deep sea angling – they have it all! The area also has the most abundant and diverse species of salt water fish within the Gulf.  The Center for Marine Education is an educational experience that is fun for all ages.  Ship Island and Gulf Islands Waterpark are both guaranteed to be family favorites. And depending on when you visit, there’s always an outdoor event to attend including: the Biloxi Seafood Festival, the Rockin’ The Riverfront Fest, the Kite Fest and the Blues and Heritage Festival.

Golf, Casinos and Spas

The Mississippi Gulf Coast is home to several professional-grade golf courses that are rated among the best in the nation. You can golf on a course that was designed by golf greats Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer to name a few. If you are feeling lucky- there are 12 world-class casino resorts to choose from and more on the way. They all feature 24-hour non-stop gaming.  Within the casino resorts, full-service spas are ready to cater to vacationers.

Food and Accommodations

Eating is serious business for locals and visitors in the Mississippi Gulf region. Depending on what you are craving, there’s casual fare to gourmet beachside restaurants to fine dining. Take your pick! And where you decide to sleep can range from luxury resorts to quaint bed and breakfast inns. Visit gulf coast attractions for more information on how to customize on your next trip to The Mississippi Gulf Coast.
