If eating better or losing weight is one of your new year’s resolutions, try this delicious smoothie great for weight loss. Of course, a healthy well-balanced diet and exercise are essential to maintaining a healthy weight or losing weight. If you want to jump-start your weight loss goals for the new year, consider replacing one meal with a nutrient-rich smoothie full of fresh ingredients that will keep you satisfied and feeling full.

Two ingredients I use in almost all my smoothies are cinnamon and bananas. Cinnamon offers many health benefits like cancer prevention, alertness, and fat absorption, among others. Bananas have had a bad reputation for weight loss but many studies prove they are a healthy, low-calorie snack. Bananas are also good for weight loss as they contain a high level of potassium and are high in fiber which helps keep you feeling full, longer.

In this recipe, I added a handful of raw almonds even though I also used peanut butter.  I like the flavor that fresh almonds add to smoothies.  If you don’t add the almonds, double the peanut butter to two tablespoons instead of just one. The protein in the nuts will reduce the feeling of hunger.

This peanut butter and banana smoothie is so tasty and naturally sweet. The peanut butter and almonds contain healthy fat also good for helping to keep you satisfied, and the protein is great for toning or building muscle.

1 ripe banana, frozen (tip: peel banana before freezing)
1 cup of almond milk or regular milk
2 ice cubes
1 Tbsp of coconut & peanut spread
1/4 tsp cinnamon
8-10 raw, natural almonds (optional)

Blend on high for about 30 seconds.
